Coaching

We offer Skills Sessions on an expression of interest basis.

Located on Djaara country in Castlemaine Central Victoria - we currently offer sessions at:

  • Walmer State Forest

  • Campbell’s Creek State Forest

  • Castlemaine Diggings Heritage Park

including the Goldfields Track and Forest Creek Track

  • Spring Gully in Bendigo

Regardless of if the session intention is skills development or therapeutic, we always consider the physical, emotional, social, environment, cultural and psychological aspects of riding. While this is not a therapy or counselling session please be aware that feelings relating to riding can and often emerge during a“standard” skills session, and they will be acknowledged and supported if need be. Trying something new or getting feedback about riding can evoke moments of discomfort, vulnerability and uncertainty. On the flip side working with a Skills Coach can support you to notice and break unhelpful riding habits as well as progress skills.

Some of the skills we cover include:

  • Body Position for ascending, descending and cornering

  • Use of controls and equipment - brakes, gear and suspension

  • Decision making and timing to ride features and create more flow in your riding

  • Maneuvers to create more fun, flow and confidence

  • Bike check and set up

From our own experience of learning skills with mentors and coaches, it is great to have multiple sessions over a period of time. A one-off session can support fundamental technique but real progress occurs over time, with your own practice in between sessions along with feedback and analysis provided by a coach.

During the session we take video and photos as part of the riding analysis we do. We also provide notes on all skills covered which can be referred to when you are practicing.
